Jolene was chased out of Geoff's house with a broom.
This did not bother her, as she would be back and nothing could stop her from being with her man, but as long as she was in the outside world, well...
She quickly nabbed some sort of hamster-grasshopper hybrid and choked it down impatiently before burping in a charming lady-like fashion (not) and taking to the skies, her eyes a whirling mess of purples, almost pulsating from light to dark. Her hide was practically glowing like an autumn fire. Firelizards of the opposite (or same, she wasn't picky about getting attention) gender would likely sense her proddy flight, but just in case she trumpeted at the sky as she skimmed over the treetops. It was more of a pocket trumpet than a cornet, but that still counted as trumpeting right?
The Girl: Jolene The Secondary Characters: Narcis, Sir Loin, Mjolnir, Gabby The One Who Gets The Girl: Gabby!
Oh, no, there was something going on. It sounded important. Though, obviously, not as important as him.
Nothing was more important than Narcis.
Cooing at his reflection in a puddle, the eye-searing neon pink Meltdown hesitated a moment. He knew there was a female flying. He should really go see to her.
Just look at that pretty firelizard in the water!
Thankfully, something small and squeaky hopped passed him, and the urge to tear it to shreds and maybe even eat some of it was too strong. And, well, if he had to do that, might as well take to the skies.
But don't despair, beautiful-firelizard-in-the-puddle. The mighty Narcis had enough love for both!
Taking to the skies, the Meltdown was quick to find the flying female, and he let out a mighty challenging screech. He was ready to take up any challenge.
Look, no one is sure if Narcis is actually chasing the Inferno or challenging her for daring to think she's more pretty than him.
Also, no one said she thought she was prettier than him.
Either way, at least the Meltdown was giving chase.

Near a humanoid's hut this Cyclone lounged, eyeing the garden that attracted many small critters. It was like a trap he never had to set. It was just a bonus that the forest was typically calm, quiet, and offered shelter. Typically, this boy could be found in the markets of the Weyrd or near any gatherings or parties he could spot. This was because, of course, there was always food around these areas. And not just any food—good food. He had a taste for the finer things when given the opportunity, but his palate was wide and vast…kind of like his belly.
After snatching up a couple flooferteethers for dinner, something else caught his attention. He could feel it nearby, coming closer. Out of his lounging-belly-up position he rotated, onto his four legs. As Jolene darted past overhead, a hunger deeper than any he had ever felt before overcame him. He rushed into the garden, all other life forms with legs scattering in all directions. He managed to grab a couple more, practically choking them down whole, before taking to the skies. He refused to let his belly weigh down his passion. Four. He had eaten four small creatures now.
His belly might be wide and vast, but so was his heart. Look out, world: Sir Loin was lookin' for love.
It took him a while to get there. He preferred the wilds of Planet, deep in the forest and over plains rolling with endless thunder. Who knows how he felt the female's flight over the leagues between them. After the Meltdown and Cyclone showed up, a blast of chilly air from between signaled his arrival. The Thunderburst gave out a throaty warble, eyeing Sir Loin and Narcis equally. He was large, in charge, and loud. His fast whirling gaze landed on Jolene, and his warble shifted smoothly into a croon. Now there was a lass! Mjolnir swooped into the chase, doing a barrel roll in his excitement. It's on!
Introducing God of Thunder's Hammer Thunderburst, Mjolnir

Gabby was perhaps a little bit too enthusiastic about this whole thing, confusing holding her own chase for the loud call of Jolene's. She zipped through, large (for her size), wings flaring out on either side of her as her bark-colored hide, not quite as eye-catching as others. Not quite as male as the others. She let out a cheery chirp, tiny teeth bare in the darn closest thing to a grin that she could muster. She was fully expecting this to be a nice, fun experience, and she twirled in a small circle, showing off some of her acrobatic skills. She was a little bit more than the sunny, earthy joy that she presented. She'd even managed to grab a quick bite to eat on her way.
(Took one of Lucas' Flitters though Quake is now NPC Tremor Gabby)
WOAH the first boy to give chase was bigger than she expected -- not that she minded! He was quickly followed by another big boy, this was more noisy, and she was eager to hear him tell her all sorts of sweet little nothings, wink wink. ANd bless her heart, Gabby was welcome to fly too, come on honey shake what you've got! Jolene did not do jealousy. She was too confident and pretty to need to worry about how fabulous she was.
Delighted with multiple followers, the young Inferno loop-de-looped upwards, squeaking for them to come, chase, impress! Speed was, perhaps fortunately for her followers (especially hungry man over there) not one of her priorities in a potential mate (or friend). She wanted to be dazzled.
ooc| oop sorry for delay, we should be on track now 8D

This sort of chase was right up Sir Loin's alley! In all honesty, if today was based on speed, they might very well lose this Cyclone along the way. Luckily, he was keeping up just fine at the current pace. The presence of the other competitors did not bother him. Just like a good meal, a good chase was more enjoyable when shared with others. Sure, he could be a little greedy with food sometimes, but he preferred quality over quantity if he could find it.
Today, lunch had come in quantity, but this lady came in quality.
He more or less followed in a straight line, unable to replicate her loop-de-loop or anything of the sort. A much deeper squeak (more like a honk...) was thrown back at her, expressing his enthusiasm. Instead of any acrobatics or aerial skills, the Cyclone used his front arms to absolutely WHACK his belly, regurgitating up a meaty chunk of tiny mammal. It was basically fresh; he had just eaten it. He honked again, holding out the meat as he followed her as fast as he could muster, trying to catch up a little. Look! He brought a gift!
Mjolnir was happy to see others come to Jolene's call. A chase wasn't worthy without some healthy competition- and these other two certainly looked like good competition! The Tremor lady that joined was the most agile, clearly, and the Cyclone that had arrived before him was a little more- robust. Not as acrobatic. The Thunderburst was neatly in the middle, which was fine by him. He was definitely louder, though! The Inferno loop-de-looped upwards, signaling the start, and the Thunderburst felt a rush of energy course through his body.
With a mighty warble, that sounded equal parts adoring and challenging, the flit propelled himself upwards. He threw his body into a corkscrew pattern, like jagged bolts of lightning instead of smooth circles like Gabby or Jolene's fancy loops. The Cyclone's approach was... interesting, Mjolnir had to admit. He certainly couldn't do anything like that, but his ferocious little trills were just as enthusiastic as anything!

Gabby watched as the Inferno shot upwards barely even registering that the two males beside her had the advantage in size. While she was certainly not the strongest, luckily for Jolene, dazzling was probably what the Tremor did best. With her wings furled out, she soared after the group, forgetting herself for just a moment, caught off guard. She was intrigued by Mjolnir's tight movements, a pattern that she had not quite perfected, and was even more intrigued by Sir Loin, because she had never even tried that. While agility would have its place, she was sure, Gabby decided to let out a sweeping display instead, because the girl could glide!
She squeaked, her small body dipping up and down in waves with just smaller movements in her wings. She knew how best to capture the upward thrust of the winds, and use the oversized wings on her petite body to her advantage. And she was just getting started.
No, speed was not the name of the game today, worry not Sir Loin! Or other competitors. She looped through the air (and if she jerked a little at an unexpected… Squawk? she tried to do so with grace), not exactly lazy, but certainly in no rush. It was hard to be fawned over if you left everyone behind in the dust! Thus, she turned around to make sure she hadn't left anyone behind, and —
The flap of her wings she heartbreaks in mid air, hovering in place for just a moment make sure she was seeing and smelling things correctly. His lunch! He was… Giving her his lunch? She resumed flying, heavily weighing this very tempting offer, and trilled back at Mjolnir, delighted by his emphatic motions in the sky. No hesitation! Afflict who knew what he was about! The trilling faded into admiring oooo'ing cooling out of her mouth as she watched Gabby glide by, unable to avoid admitting to herself that she had some looks.
Flipping around, Jolene arced in a circle back around, wiggling in a zigzag pattern as she passed everyone back in the opposite direction, using the time to consider her options.

Gabby was ready for this, she didn’t want to fall behind. Her eyes locked onto Jolene, trilling sweetly as she about-faced as quickly as she could, perhaps not the most gracefully. She was as determined as possible to impress, slowing her smooth brown body by flaring her wings out and pulling back, like a parachute. This wasn’t a race! --she hoped, and she decided that her best course of action here was mimicking the Inferno to the best of her ability. She zig-zagged straight up, then dipped down to add some flare, tail curled behind her as she did her best to manipulate her oversized wings.
Chasing was hard work! She hadn’t expected it, but it was a pleasant surprise, wasn’t it? Win or lose, this was fun for Gabby, either way.

This was the most pleasant chase he had ever encountered! Most of the time he was too lazy to try. But, when he did, he was often left behind. This was fantastic!
Not offended by the fact that Jolene did not accept his offering, he easily gulped it back down, happy enough to keep it all for himself. He also couldn’t help but admire his competitor's movements, not even a tinge of jealousy is his beady eyes. He was quite enjoying himself.
One advantage in this reversal of direction was that Sir Loin was able to use his own weight to slow himself down. He dropped several feet like a boulder, holding out his wings to easily slow his modest momentum. Then, he literally rolled backwards to follow Jolene. Rolled. Like a bowling ball. Backwards. Wheeeeeee~ Wait for him!
Jolene had declined the meal, but the Cyclone compitetor didn't seemed phased, and the Thunderburst was glad! Their Inferno leader flipped back around, zigzagging in the other direction. Mjolnir watched as the Tremor turned around and matched Jolene's pattern. Sir Loin, on the other claw, was already behind and used his weight to help him.
He appreciated the lax, upbeat vibe of this chase. He was enjoying the stretching out of his wings, the goofy antics of some of the chasers- and gracefulness of others. Trumpeting out his happiness with how things were going, he tilted his wings and swooped down. Then he pulled his wings up, in a wide, swooping arc, turning himself around and taking up the (now) rear. He kept up with the others, chest puffed out proudly as he made graceful swoops back and forth, following both Jolene and Gabby's zigzags.
Gabby need not fear, it was no race, although it was a casual competition. Jolene was the prettiest thing and on land, after all, she couldn't settle for just anybody… And fortunately, all three of her suitors were impressive in their own, personal ways. And after all, Gabby knew one of the most important things about making an impression, which is that imitation was the most sincere form of flattery.
And then there was the gallant glutton, Sir Loin, who similar lack of speed had a similar lack of negative impact on her. If she wanted somebody who could provide for her, and could certainly hold his own weight, literally, well, she had just the boy to pick right here. There was a moment of frazzled panic that ruined Jolene's own swooping, wanting to be sure Sir Loin corrected himself, and an airy sigh left her in relief when he resumed following.
And then then there was the only air, a bit more traditional in his focused chasing, and lack of distractions by food or other females (it was another point in his favor he didn't go chasing off after that other girl, much as she might like Gabby). Like we said, they were all good in their own ways, which is fortunate that she had attracted a riffraff, and unfortunate that she could only choose one.
At least for tonight.
There would be other nights. Don't worry.
… Unless she COULD choose more than one?
No, no, we're not going down that rabbit hole.
Spinning around, Jolene settled on her mark. Gabby would get a brush of her tail and comehither trill, waiting for the Tremor to catch on before she left the boys behind. You, come with her, she was gonna show you how to be as awesome as she was, so you could also get all the boys chasing you, okay. Or girls, whichever.
[And FIN! Thank you for joining my chase ahhh sorry it got strung out so long |D you were all amazing <333]

Gabby found it difficult to both focus on her own movements and watch the competition, though a significant part of her was having so much fun that it didn't really quite matter what the others were doing, or thought. How could they think of anything, besides Jolene before them. And as the Tremor prepared to take in a deep breath, wiggle her hips, and spread out her legs for another aerial display, she felt the gentle touch of the Inferno brush against her hide, and a small shock of surprise zapped through her. Was this it? Compared to the bright, beauty of Jolene, she had been feeling quite drab, but it appeared that her moves had paid off. Or maybe, when it came to the prettiest in the land, there was more than met the eyes alone.
With a pleased chitter of her own, the Tremor made a small series of showy movements, floating beneath Jolene so that their tails could twine together at the tips. If the Inferno wanted, anyway. Gabby was no brutish boy, that was for sure!
